Hunger for The Word of God.

A hunger for the word of God signifies a deep desire to understand and experience God’s teachings and presence, often described as a spiritual longing or craving. It’s a desire that goes beyond mere intellectual knowledge and extends to a yearning for a deeper relationship with God. This hunger is often associated with spiritual growth, as believers are encouraged to cultivate a Love for God’s Word and seek nourishment from it.

Biblical Perspectives:

  • Amos 8:11: This verse speaks of a time when people will be hungry for the word of God, but will not find it, highlighting the importance of seeking and valuing God’s word.
  • Matthew 4:4: Jesus declares that “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God,” emphasizing the spiritual nourishment found in God’s word.
  • 1 Peter 2:2: This verse compares the desire for God’s word to a newborn’s longing for milk, highlighting the essential nature of God’s word for spiritual growth.

Cultivating a Hunger for God’s Word:

  • Set aside time: Make a deliberate effort to read, study, and meditate on Scripture.
  • Listen to God’s word: Utilize audio Bibles, sermons, or podcasts to hear God’s word.
  • Attend church services: Participate in worship, prayer, and preaching.
  • Seek to understand God’s character: Learn about God’s attributes and nature, which can deepen your love and appreciation for Him.
  • Pray for a desire for God’s Word: Ask God to awaken a hunger and thirst for His word in your heart.
  • Examine your heart: If you find yourself lacking a desire for God’s word, consider if there are competing appetites or distractions that need to be addressed.

The Tripod of Faith.

In John 7:37-39Jesus declares that anyone who is thirsty should come to him and drink, and that those who believe in him will have rivers of living water flow from within them. He explains that this refers to the Holy Spirit, who had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified. This passage highlights Jesus as the source of spiritual life and satisfaction through the Holy Spirit.

Key points from John 7:37-39:

  • Jesus’ invitation: Jesus invites those who are thirsty to come to him and drink.
  • Living water: Believers will have “rivers of living water” flowing from within them.
  • The Spirit: Jesus clarifies that this living water refers to the Holy Spirit, Who was not yet given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
  • Fulfillment: The promise of the Spirit is fulfilled after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension.

In essence, John 7:37-39 proclaims that Jesus is the ultimate source of spiritual life and that those who believe in him will receive the Holy Spirit, who will empower and refresh them from within.

We’re WHAT we EAT and DRINK so they says and JESUS’ words quoted above confirms it thus: if we DRINK of HIM, (learn His words) and believe it, it will PURIFY and REFRESHEN our HEART to bear the FRUITS of LIFE. How HEALTHY are you spiritually? Drinking just ANY WATER no matter the POLLUTION or QUALITY for a brief relief have caused most of the moral, social and spiritual CRIMES in our society today. There are various WATERS from various SOURCES… human traditions cannot SAVE anyone, let’s be watchful!

The truth? We’re what we LEARN: only the SPIRIT of LIFE in God’s words can repair and recreate us to add values to LIFE rather than devalue it… so, seek to DRINK of the LIVING WATER daily if you want to live.

Thank God for His SAVING WORD.🙏🔥
