Time? 🤔 Does it matter?
In the Bible, time is both created by God and a gift to be used wisely. While God exists outside of time, He created it as a framework for human existence and a means for His purposes to unfold. Christians are called to recognize the value of time and to live with an eternal perspective, making the most of each day for God’s glory.
Here’s a more detailed look:
- God Created Time: The Bible indicates that God created time along with the physical universe. Genesis 1:14 speaks of God creating lights in the firmament to divide day from night and to mark seasons, days, and years.
- Time as a Gift: The Bible emphasizes that time is a gift from God, and Christians should use it wisely. Scripture repeatedly urges believers to make the most of their time (Ephesians 5:16), as days are seen as potentially evil or wasted if not used for God’s purposes.
- God’s Perspective on Time: God is often described as being outside of time, or timeless, having always existed and continuing to exist beyond the boundaries of time as humans experience it.
- Time in a Linear Framework: The Bible presents a linear view of time with a beginning (creation), middle (historical events, including the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus), and an end (Jesus’s return and the establishment of God’s kingdom).
- Eternal Perspective: Christians are encouraged to view time through an eternal lens, recognizing that their earthly lives are temporary and that their actions have eternal consequences.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says “to everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.” This verse has impacted me quite powerfully in reference to my being here on Earth, alive! To God be the glory!!!
I have shared my experience ad nauseum. To God be ALL the glory, Amen.
Several Bible verses speak to the concept of waiting on God, emphasizing trust, patience, and renewed strength. Isaiah 40:31 states, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint”. Psalm 27:14 encourages, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”. Additionally, Psalm 37:7 advises, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him”.
Here are some key verses and their themes:
- Isaiah 40:31: Highlights the promise of renewed strength and perseverance for those who wait on the Lord.
- Psalm 27:14: Focuses on the importance of courage and strength while waiting.
- Psalm 37:7: Urges stillness and patience in waiting for the Lord.
- Psalm 33:20-22: Emphasizes trust in God’s help and protection during waiting.
- Lamentations 3:25: Reminds us that the Lord is good to those who wait for him.
- Psalm 130:5: Expresses patient waiting and hope in God’s word.
- Psalm 37:34: Encourages waiting on the Lord and keeping his way.
