Funny! I grew up in the 1970’s in West Africa; right at the beginning of PC’s, the web was not born yet! Life without a computer? That was my life then! Library?

Looking back, things were so very different back then! A computer? What was that?
I share the above because that was ‘life’ back then. It was normal.

“Life without a computer isn’t a step backward—it’s a step inward. It’s where silence speaks, pages turn, and moments stretch into memories.”
Want me to turn that into a graphic, a poster, or maybe even a short poem? I’ve got plenty more where that came from!
Close your eyes and imagine this: no laptop on your desk, no phone in your hand, no glowing screen waiting for you to type, scroll, or click. What would your life look like without a computer?
At first, it feels impossible. Our studies, jobs, communication, even entertainment everything revolves around computers and technology. Without them, the world would look slower, quieter, maybe even a little uncomfortable.
But think again. Life without a computer doesn’t have to mean a life without meaning. In fact, it could give us a chance to rediscover things we’ve forgotten…
Writing on paper instead of typing on a keyboard. Spending more time outdoors instead of glued to a screen. Talking face-to-face with people instead of sending endless texts. Using creativity books, and our own imagination to find solutions.
Sure, computers make life easier, but they also make us dependent. Without them, maybe we’d learn to be more resourceful. Maybe we’d live more in the moment. Maybe we’d realize that while technology is powerful, it’s not the only power we have.
Don’t let your life be defined by machines. Use computers as tools, but don’t forget the beauty of life beyond screens.
So if you ask me my life without a computer would definitely be harder, but it would also push me to grow, connect, and live more fully in the real world.
And now, I ask you: What would your life look like without a computer?
Life without computers would be vastly different and significantly more challenging, marked by slower communication, less efficient work, limited access to information, and a regression in critical fields like medicine and education. While it might encourage slower, more connected communities and greater personal interaction, the immediate disruption to daily life, businesses, and societal progress would be immense.
Communication:
- Slowed and Limited: Without email, instant messaging, and video calls, communication would rely on slower, traditional methods like letters and phone calls, making it harder to connect over distances.
Work and Economy:
- Reduced Productivity: Tasks like data entry, analysis, and complex calculations would take much longer if done manually, leading to a significant drop in productivity across many industries.
- Economic Impact: Many industries, including finance, manufacturing, and entertainment, would face severe disruptions, potentially leading to job losses and economic instability.
Information and Knowledge:
- Limited Access: The internet, which provides instant access to vast amounts of information via search engines, would cease to exist, severely limiting research and learning.
- Educational Setbacks: Online learning platforms and digital resources would disappear, forcing a return to less accessible, traditional methods of teaching and learning from books.
Healthcare and Technology:
- Degraded Medical Care: Computers play a vital role in diagnosis, treatment, and medical research, and their absence would likely lead to a drastic decline in healthcare quality.
- Technological Stagnation: Fields like biomedical engineering and other scientific disciplines that rely on computer modeling and processing would cease to progress at their current rate.
Societal and Lifestyle Changes:
- Return to Traditional Practices: People might engage more in direct, face-to-face interactions, fostering community and potentially slower, more sustainable lifestyles.
- Personal Well-being: While potentially chaotic, a life without constant digital connection could reduce stress, improve focus, and allow for more hobbies and personal downtime.
So, let’s turn the corner – giving God glory and praise for life as it is today. You were known before you were born!

The phrase “You were known before you were born!” is a reference to Jeremiah 1:5, which states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”. This biblical passage suggests God’s omniscience and a deeper, predestined plan for individuals, meaning God knew and had a purpose for people before their physical birth.
Key Points:
- God’s Foreknowledge: God’s knowledge of individuals predates their physical existence, indicating a divine understanding of who they would become.
- Predestination: The verse implies that God has a purpose and plan for each person, even before they are born.
- Love and Purpose: It’s often seen as a comforting reminder of God’s everlasting love and a profound sense of His purpose for humanity.
- In the Context of Jeremiah: In Jeremiah’s specific calling, God not only knew him but also appointed him as a prophet to the nations before his birth.
Other Relevant Verses:
- Psalm 139:13-18: also speaks to God’s intricate knowledge of individuals, stating that God knit them together in their mother’s womb and wrote all the days ordained for them in His book before any of them came to be.
