You can add another why to the busy diatribe above. The answer is consistent! Have you ever known/seen a focused child of God ceaselessly put upon by worries?
Jesus took it ALL!!! Yes, there will be challenges and trials but we in Christ Jesus are more than conquerors/victors!
The phrase “we in Christ Jesus are more than conquerors/victors” comes from Romans 8:37 and means that through Jesus, Christians are not just able to overcome challenges, but achieve an overwhelming victory. This emphasizes that because of Christ’s love, believers have a complete and victorious triumph over all adversity, such as persecution, tribulation, and other difficulties.
- Victory beyond expectation: The phrase “more than conquerors” signifies a victory that is greater than a simple win. It suggests that the power of God through Christ is so immense that it doesn’t just win a struggle, but completely triumphs over it.
- A foundation of love: The reason for this victory is rooted in Christ’s love. The verse states, “…through him who loved us,” meaning that this overwhelming victory is a result of God’s sacrificial love for believers.
- Triumph over all things: This victory is not limited to specific challenges but applies to “all these things” mentioned in the preceding verses, which include hardship, distress, persecution, and famine. It is a promise that no trial can separate believers from God’s love and victory.
- An “unbreakable” confidence: This understanding provides confidence and courage to face life’s difficulties. It means that believers can face challenges not with fear, but with the assurance of Christ’s power and love, which leads to a triumphant outcome.
Give thanks in EVERY situation/circumstance!
We have received a call to maintain an attitude of gratitude and trust in God regardless of life’s circumstances. This approach is not about pretending to be happy about hardships but about shifting focus to God’s goodness, faithfulness, and promises, which remain true even in difficult times. It can be practiced by being thankful for who God is, what God has done, and what God has promised to do, which helps foster contentment and peace.
How to practice giving thanks in all circumstances
- Recognize God’s constant nature: Thank God for His character, such as His goodness and love, which does not change despite your circumstances.
- Shift your focus: Instead of dwelling on the problem, focus on God’s provision and past faithfulness. Scripture encourages this shift in verses like Philippians 4:6, which links prayer with thanksgiving when facing anxiety.
- Find reasons to be thankful: Look for good things in your life, even small ones. The Bible teaches that all things work together for good for those who love God, and this can be a source of thankfulness.
- Make it an intentional choice: Gratitude can be a “lifeline” that moves you from despair to hope. It is a choice to see God’s goodness even when life is hard, rather than waiting for things to feel “right”.
- Remember past promises and future hope: Thank God for His promises and the reassurance they offer for the future. This can create a sense of hope and perspective, even in difficult seasons.
We could go on and on, but enough said for now!
