For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. …

After that he must be released for a little while. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. Let’s point out that all the money in the world does not come without problems… Peace cannot be bought!
You were known before you were born! You are here on Earth for a purpose…
The Bible states that you are here on Earth for a purpose, which is to glorify God and to live according to His will by loving Him and your neighbor. This involves having a restored relationship with God, serving Him, and performing good works that He has prepared in advance.
To glorify God
- Purpose of creation: God created all things, and they are for Him, which means a primary purpose for humans is to bring Him glory.
- Praise and worship: The Bible says we are created to give God praise and glory. Ecclesiastes 12:13 states our purpose is to “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man”.
To fulfill God’s will through good works
- Created for good works: You are “created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand”.
- Fulfilling a mission: God has a mission for each person, and this includes sharing the gospel with others.
- Being God’s hands and feet: This purpose includes loving others, being kind, and forgiving one another.
To Love and serve God and others
- The greatest commandments: Jesus taught that the purpose of life is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and to “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
- A holy calling: You are called to a holy purpose not because of your own works, but because of God’s purpose and grace.
To find purpose in Christ
- Inherent purpose: You are not an accident but are part of God’s larger purpose for all things.
- Finding identity in Christ: “It is in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for,” and “in him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will”.
