God’s Love is often considered unconditional and ever-present, while blessings can be seen as conditional gifts that depend on various factors, including a person’s actions or God’s sovereign will. The distinction highlights that while God’s Love is a constant, blessings are specific outcomes that one can appreciate, but should not be the sole measure of God’s favor, as He also uses trials to shape character.
God’s Love
- Unconditional: God’s Love is often described as a constant and unchanging foundation that is available to everyone, regardless of their actions or perceived worthiness.
- Fundamental: It is seen as the core of His nature and the starting point for all other interactions. This Love is demonstrated through actions like the sacrifice of Jesus.
- Beyond understanding: It is a Love that surpasses human comprehension and exists independently of life’s circumstances.
Blessings
- Conditional: Blessings are often viewed as conditional outcomes that are dependent on God’s will or a person’s choices, such as obedience to His precepts.
- Specific outcomes: They can include things like good health, a stable family, or success, but are not guaranteed for all people at all times.
- A focus of appreciation: Blessings are things to be recognized, appreciated, and shared, but the focus should not be on them as a measure of God’s Love for a person.
- Can be challenging: It’s noted that those who follow God may still face difficulties, and some of these challenges are considered necessary to shape character.
The relationship between love and blessings
- Love is greater than blessings: The belief that God’s Love is superior to His blessings suggests that a person can and should Love God even without receiving His blessings.
- Love without blessings: The story of Job is used as an example of a person who Loved God for Who He was, not for the blessings He gave, even after experiencing great loss.
- Blessings as a part of love: Some perspectives frame blessings as a part of God’s love, but not the entirety of it. For instance, they can be seen as gifts that flow from that love and a person’s relationship with God, but they are not the defining factor of that love.

How do you view GOD’S Love versus His blessings?
Each folder of Job’s life is spiritual, it preached God’s Love shown through affliction rather than material blessings or a rosy life. Though he was shaken like a reed yet he came out stronger in the LORD. Have you faced trials that compare?
Job 42:17 is the final verse in the Book of Job, stating, “And Job died, an old man and full of days”. This verse marks the conclusion of Job’s story after he endured immense suffering, remained faithful, and was eventually restored with a long life and renewed prosperity. He lived a total of 140 years and saw his descendants to the fourth generation.
Naturally, we’re beset by the anxiety to stay atop life, this often makes many to fumble and fall out of God’s plan for their lives. Perhaps it almost caused Job to sin against God too during his trials. The twist at the end landed him in greater blessings capped with fully replenished long-life. Awesome!
- Meaning: The verse signifies the end of Job’s long life and the completion of his story. It is a testament to his endurance and faithfulness through adversity.
- Context: It is the concluding verse of a chapter that describes Job’s restoration. After being tested and suffering great loss, his later days were blessed by God, and he lived a full and long life.
- Biblical Significance: “Full of days” implies a life that was not only long but also complete, marked by wisdom and a sense of having lived a full life, a significant reward after his trials.
The message? Job regretted his criticisms against God and calmed down with repentance. What an eternal virtue VIRTUE! Life is at best when we endured the cost of our disci soberly… will you?
