This should really be asking…
Where is your favorite place to spend time with God? 🙄

My favorite place to spend time in the Presence of God is within my own heart. I can connect with the Divine anywhere, at any time, through quiet contemplation and prayer.

Spending time with someone you are fond of: friends, family, your significant other… is the key to getting to know them. This means setting time aside to spend alone with that special person, but it also comes from living your everyday lives together – laughing, eating meals together, or just time talking together. The same is said for our relationship or shall I say, “intimacy” with God”.

Spending time alone with God is an essential part of the Christian’s life. It’s a time when you can rest in His presence, read His Word, and speak to Him in prayer. One of the best ways that we can communicate with God is through His Word and prayer.
We should always put God first in our day, it will impact the way we face each day. When should we spend time with God? It is likely that Jesus spent most of his early mornings in prayer to God:
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.”
– Mark 1:35
When you spend that quality time with Jesus, everything you want will come out of that relationship. Adam and Eve spent time in God’s Presence daily.
Mary spends time at the feet of Jesus. If you want your faith to increase. If you want to hear God’s voice. If you want to take your relationship with God to a deeper level, spend time in His Presence.
Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy Presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Psalm 16:11

In order for you to embrace a relationship with our Heavenly Father, you need to spend time in His Presence. What does it mean for you to spend time with God?
You’ll have to decide what spending quality time with God means to you. You can’t allow other people’s devotional time to intimidate you until you neglect to spend time with God.
If you want your faith to increase, you have to make it a priority to spend time with God. I want to share with you not only why you should spend time with God, but also some easy ways that you can include a quiet time with Jesus in your daily routine every day.
A key bible verse on spending time with God is 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which says to “pray without ceasing”. Other verses include Matthew 6:6, which encourages private prayer, Psalm 27:8 where David states, “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’,” and Mark 1:35, which shows Jesus withdrawing to a solitary place to pray.
Verses focusing on prayer and seeking God
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing”.
- Matthew 6:6: “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”.
- Psalm 27:8: “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!'”.
- Mark 1:35: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed”.
Verses focusing on scripture and meditation
- Psalm 1:2: “but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night”.
- Colossians 3:16: “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts”.
Verses focusing on gratitude and worship
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”.
- Psalm 95:6: “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker”.
And we pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me Your friend and for desiring a relationship with me. I commit to spending more time with You each day in prayer, meditation, and fellowship. I long for Your Presence more than anything else and ask that You help me prioritize You above all other things. Please give me the wisdom and discipline to manage my time so that I can consistently set aside moments to be with You. Help me to hear Your voice, and guide me to walk in Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
