With Jesus, your thirst is permanently/eternally quenched…

Isaiah 55:1-2 is an invitation from God for all who are thirsty to come and receive nourishment that does not cost money. The passage contrasts this free gift with spending labor and money on things that do not truly satisfy, urging people to listen to God and consume what is good so their souls may be delighted.

  • Verse 1: “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price” (Bible GatewayBible Gateway).
    • This is a universal invitation to all people, regardless of their financial status, to come and partake of God’s blessings.
    • It is a call to satisfy spiritual thirst with a gift of immense value, symbolized by wine and milk, which is available freely.
  • Verse 2: “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness” (Bible Gateway, Bible Gateway).
    • This verse challenges the people to question the value of their pursuits, suggesting that they are wasting their resources on things that offer no lasting fulfillment.
    • It urges them to change their focus and listen to God’s guidance to find true satisfaction.
    • The phrase “let your soul delight itself in fatness” refers to the deep and abundant nourishment that comes from spiritually feasting on God’s goodness.

THE TRUMPET OF LIFE!

When we need to DRINK WATER like this SHEEP, we have to and amazingly nothing else, no other fluid can satisfy us, it must be water – that’s an awesome work of God!

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the WATERS… come, buy wine and milk Without money… Why do you spend money… for what DOES NOT SATISFY?… eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in ABUNDANCE.”- Isai. 55:1-2.

GOD is calling us to drink of His water, not literally water but to drink of His grace. That symbolizes our various needs and desires.

Now, the big issue from this bible quote is SATISFACTION: no methods or principles that sustain eternal righteousness outside JESUS; wine, milk and honey are purposely used to describe HIS LIFE… hope you’ll desire such ABUNDANT WATER! Notably, there are many VAIN WATERS around. Beware!

“To drink of His grace” is a metaphorical expression, primarily from Christian theology, that means to accept and receive God’s unmerited favor, strength, and salvation. It can refer to accepting Jesus’s sacrifice, the Lord’s Supper (Communion), or the ongoing spiritual sustenance God provides throughout one’s life, which is often described as living water or a fountain of grace

Key meanings

  • Receiving salvation: Symbolized by Jesus’s act of drinking from the cup during the Last Supper, it represents receiving the forgiveness of sins through his sacrifice.
  • Spiritual sustenance: It is the act of continuously drawing on God’s strength and power, especially during times of weakness, to find renewal and hope. The phrase “living water” is a metaphor for this life-giving grace that satisfies one’s spiritual thirst.
  • An individual act: Just as one person cannot drink for another, “drinking of His grace” is a personal act of faith. Each individual must individually trust in Jesus and accept his gift of salvation.
  • A way of life: More broadly, it can mean living each day in a way that honors God, integrating faith into every action, from “eating or drinking” to all other aspects of life.

How to “drink of His grace”

  • Through prayer and communion: Engage in regular prayer and the sacrament of Communion, which are seen as ways to connect with God and receive His grace.
  • By accepting weakness: Recognize your own limitations and weaknesses, and understand that God’s power is made perfect in that weakness, which is a central idea in the concept of grace.
  • By turning to God: Seek Jesus personally as the source of hope and strength, rather than relying on other things or your own works to be saved.

The truth? Jesus is the infinite, pure and satisfying Living water with purpose… live in/through/by His unmerited Love and favor, you can never over-imbibe Him!

May God spare us from vanity, Amen.🙏🔥

To express gratitude to God for Jesus, the “everlasting fountain” of living water, you can offer prayers of thanksgiving, reflect on relevant scriptures, and live a life that reflects His love and grace

Ways to Give Gratitude

  • Offer Prayers of Thanksgiving: Verbally thank God in prayer for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who provides eternal life and satisfaction for your soul.
  • Study Scripture: Meditate on Bible verses that use the “fountain” or “living water” imagery, such as John 4:13-14 and Jeremiah 2:13, which highlight that only Jesus can quench our spiritual thirst permanently.
  • Share the “Living Water”: The water Jesus provides is the Holy Spirit, which is meant to overflow from you to others. Sharing your faith and the love of God with those around you is a powerful form of gratitude.
  • Obey His Commands: Show your thankfulness by obeying God’s Word and following the example Jesus set, demonstrating your love for God and others.
  • Sing Praises: Use songs and hymns that focus on the “fountain” of Christ’s blood and life, as singing praises helps renew the mind and express heartfelt thanks.
