Doors; Push open with prayer! God’s will be done in our lives, Amen.

This statement reflects biblical themes about God opening and closing doors of opportunity. Some verses suggest that when God closes a door, it may be to protect or redirect you, while others emphasize that God opens doors of opportunity that no one can shut. Ultimately, the phrase encourages perseverance, acknowledging that some closed doors may simply require faith and action to open, while others are intentionally shut by God.

Understanding the “open and closed doors” in the Bible

  • Open doors of opportunity: Certain passages speak of “wide-open doors” that God provides, which can represent ministry opportunities or blessings that no one can close. The key is to act with faith and trust in God to enter through these doors.
  • Closed doors as redirection: When a door seems closed, it may be God’s way of preventing you from entering into something harmful or redirecting you toward a better path. For example, the Holy Spirit stopped Paul and Silas from going in one direction, likely to redirect them to a different, more significant opportunity.
  • The need for action: Even when a door is open by God, it still requires you to take action and walk through it. The verse from Revelation 3:8, Bible.com tells the church, “I have set before you an open door that no one can shut,” but they still have to step through it and use their little strength to keep His word.
  • A closed door may mean “it’s over”: Other passages indicate that some doors, once closed by God, can never be reopened. This happens when you have not been faithful or have been seeking something God does not want for you.

How to interpret “not every closed door is locked”

  • Don’t give up: When faced with a closed door, it’s a good reminder to first examine the situation and see if it requires your own effort and a new approach.
  • Look for a key: Some doors simply need a key in the form of perseverance and faith. Don’t mistake every obstacle for a locked door.
  • Seek God’s guidance: Before pushing too hard, seek God’s guidance and discern whether the door is meant to be open or not.
  • Recognize God’s plan: Some doors are closed by God for a reason, while others are meant to be opened. The ability to know the difference is where faith comes in.

THE TRUMPET OF LIFE!

As year 2025 is winding down, can we look back on some doors that are still closed…

Though some closed doors might truly be shut by God for a reason: your protection. God sees/knows and is aware of all things! Your needs and wants. God can move people in your absence to speak highly of you! Stay in prayer. But it’s not always so; some are only closed by the devil, such required a focus on praying God’s will in and for your life. How strongly can you push an obstacle from your way?

In Exodus 14:14, we are given a profound promise: “The Lord Himself will fight for you.” This verse offers hope and comfort, reminding us to remain calm, knowing that God is on our side—and if God is for us, who can ever be against us!

Had Hannah known that the door to her procreation wasn’t actually locked, maybe she would have done the needful earlier (going to the temple and crying to the LORD!) and pushed in prayer while waiting rather than the casual annual sacrifices – she intensified her prayers with the vow to bring Samuel back to serve God; only as a last resort. Is that you?

The truth? Many potentials may forever lie fallow and are wasted if not focused on in prayer, such is the energy unleashed to push and the virtues of humility, patience and faith demonstrated by Hannah when Eli, the Priest asked her about the ‘way’ she prayed, initially thinking she was intoxicated… So, do the needful to recieve your testimonies in 2026!

As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to her, “How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.”

15 “Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. 16 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”

17 Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”

18 She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.

19 Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. 20 So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”
