THE TIMELESS MIRROR.

“Cast your BURDEN on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the RIGHTEOUS to be moved” Ps. 55:22.
Every day and season comes with various BURDENS that no one has perfectly mastered or managed without divine guidance. Here was David’s experience: God always sustains the righteous victoriously no matter his/her burden…
In Psalm 55:22, God promises to sustain the righteous by providing strength to carry their burdens, ensuring they are not shaken or moved. This promise signifies divine support through trials, offering stability and endurance rather than immediate removal of the burden itself, fostering trust and spiritual growth.
Key Aspects of Divine Sustenance
- The Promise (Psalm 55:22): “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved”.
- Active Support: God acts as a supporter from below, helping believers carry their loads rather than letting them collapse.
- Focus on Endurance: Sustenance often means giving believers the strength to continue, endure, and stand firm in faith, rather than removing the difficulty.
- Purpose in Trials: While providing strength, God may use heavy burdens to conform believers to the image of His Son, sometimes leaving the burden in place to achieve a deeper purpose.
- Equipped for Challenges: Similar to the promise, it is believed that individuals are given the capacity to handle burdens that may feel too heavy to bear alone.
Are you one of such righteous?
Reflection: Can/do/will you rest on only God’s promises when you have options?
Resting on God’s promises—even when multiple human options are available—is considered the hallmark of mature faith in Christian theology. It is the practice of trusting God’s faithfulness, sovereignty, and perfect timing over one’s own understanding, anxieties, or perceived control.
Here is a breakdown of why, how, and when one would rest solely on God’s promises, according to the provided perspectives:
1. What it Means to Rest in God’s Promises
- Active Trust, Not Passive Waiting: Resting does not mean doing nothing. It means working, praying, and obeying while emotionally and mentally letting go of anxiety about the outcome.
- A Shift from Self-Reliance: It involves moving from self-reliance—which is seen as prideful and limited—to God-reliance, recognizing that human strength is limited while God is not.
- A Decision Over Fear: It is a daily decision to believe God’s Word (e.g., that He will supply needs, provide peace, or work things out for good) rather than being driven by the fear of making a wrong choice.
2. Resting in God When You Have Options
Having options can often lead to a “god of open options” mentality, where people fear committing, wanting to maintain control over the outcome. Resting on God’s promises in such moments involves:
- Choosing God’s Purpose: It means setting aside the desire to keep options open in favor of committing to God’s will.
- Trusting God to Order the Steps: Even when options are present, the believer trusts that God will direct their path, often using those options as tools rather than ultimate sources of security.
- Defying Other Options: Sometimes, faith is demonstrated by choosing to follow God’s direction, even when it seems less advantageous or riskier than other available options.
3. Practical Steps to Rest When Options are Available
- “Pray Hard”: Use options as opportunities to pray for discernment, rather than simply picking the easiest path.
- Set Your Mind: Intentionally decide that God’s plan is better, even if you don’t understand it.
- Analyze Your Load: If the options are causing anxiety, it means you are carrying the weight yourself rather than resting in God.
Why This is Often Difficult
- The Idolatry of “More Options”: Culture often dictates that having more options equals more freedom, which can make us afraid to commit to one, leading to spiritual “limping” or indecision.
- Desire for Control: People often trust what they can see (physical options) over what they cannot see (God’s promise), leading to fear and anxiety.
Ultimately, resting on God’s promises means that while you may recognize other options, your final peace and security are rooted only in God.
Hannah went home with joy and was never sad again after a vigorous prayer at Shiloh for a child. That sampled a person who’s hope was only in God, defying other available options. She gave God her burdens and recieved rest as illustrated by the image above – a vital message for us!

1 Samuel 1:18 marks a turning point in Hannah’s story, where she finds peace and hope after praying to God regarding her infertility. After being reassured by Eli the priest, she goes her way, eats, and is no longer sad, showing her trust that God had heard her request.
Key Aspects of 1 Samuel 1:18:
- Actionable Peace: After pouring out her soul in prayer (vv. 9-17), Hannah experiences a tangible shift from deep despair to peace, leading her to eat and change her demeanor.
- “No More Sad”: Her “countenance was no more sad” because she moved from anxiously carrying her burden to leaving it with the Lord.
- Trust in God’s Timing: Although not yet pregnant, Hannah acts in faith, trusting that God will grant her request through Eli’s pronouncement.
- Context: This verse follows the promise of Eli the priest that God would grant her request (v. 17), following her profound, silent prayer, which he first mistook for drunkenness.
1 Samuel 1:18 highlights the peace that comes from prayerful surrender and trusting God’s promise.
The truth? Many are victims of false prophets toda, for they see them as visible options that could be explored for quicker solutions; God is ever timely, He is never late and never misses His target.

God’s timing is perfect, sovereign, and never early or late, acting as an anchor that aligns with divine purpose rather than human impatience. He uses seasons of waiting to build faith and develop character, working all things together for ultimate good. Resting in Him means trusting His promises that God is never late.
Key Aspects of Divine Timing
- Perfectly Timed: God is never in a hurry and never late; He is always on time, according to.
- Purposeful Waiting: What feels like a delay is often preparation, not a denial, as mentioned in.
- Trusting the Process: As stated in, we are encouraged to trust in God’s,,not ours,,timing even when we do not understand it.
- Biblical Foundation: God’s,Word reassures believers that He is not slow to fulfill His promises.
Resting on Him means letting go of anxiety and trusting that He sees the full picture.
Let’s rest on Him!
It’s well.🙏🔥
