And we pray… Let us start things as we are taught by Jesus…

In the Bible, Mark 1:35 records that Jesus rose “a great while before day” or “while it was still dark” to go to a solitary place and pray. This practice served as a foundation for his ministry, allowing him to prioritize communion with God, seek guidance, and renew his strength before the day’s demands.

Key Details of Jesus’ Early Morning Prayer

  • Timing: He rose well before sunrise, often while it was still dark, to ensure uninterrupted time.
  • Location: He departed to a “solitary” or “deserted” place, away from the distractions of the house and the crowds.
  • Purpose:
    • To seek the Father’s will and guidance for his ministry.
    • To replenish his spiritual strength.
    • To demonstrate dependence on God despite his divine nature.

Spiritual Significance

Many interpret this habit as a model for believers to:

  • Prioritize God: Setting aside the first part of the day for prayer.
  • Find Stillness: Escaping daily noise to focus on a personal relationship with God.
  • Prepare for Challenges: Equipping oneself through prayer to handle the responsibilities and trials of the day.
