Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

I truly got to know what ‘Family’ truly is, after my accident, there is family around the globe!

Galatians 3:28 declares, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”. This verse highlights that faith in Christ creates a new, spiritual family that transcends earthly barriers. Another key passage is Matthew 12:50, where Jesus states, “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother”.

Key Scriptures on the Family of Christ

  • Unity in Christ: “You are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
  • Spiritual Siblings: “Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:50)
  • Adoption as Children: “In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 1:4-5)
  • Children of God: “To all who did receive him… he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
  • Common Source: “From whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” (Ephesians 3:15)

The Bible presents the family as a foundational, God-ordained unit designed to reflect His love, transmit faith across generations, and serve as a spiritual support system. It acts as a multi-generational covenant where parents are commanded to teach their children to fear and love God. Ultimately, earthly families mirror the relationship between Christ and the Church, emphasizing sacrificial love, unity, and spiritual legacy.

Key Biblical Principles of Family

  • Divine Institution: God established family at creation (Adam and Eve) to reflect His image and love.
  • Generational Legacy: Families are tasked with telling the next generation about God’s deeds, ensuring faith continues.
  • Sacrificial Love: Husbands are instructed to love their wives as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:25), and parents are to train children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
  • Unit of Strength: A “cord of three strands” represents a family united in Christ, which is not easily broken.
  • God’s Family: Believers are invited into the family of God, emphasizing that spiritual belonging is the ultimate priority.

Foundational Verses

  • Genesis 1:28: The command to be fruitful and multiply.
  • Deuteronomy 6:6-7: The instruction to impress God’s commandments upon children.
  • Exodus 20:12: The commandment to honor your father and mother.
  • Psalm 127:3: Children are described as a heritage and reward from the Lord.

Family can be the most wonderful, supportive and lovely “family” one could hope for. At other times, family can be enough to drive you crazy. Now, it might not be the “entire family” that creates the “craziness”, nor could it be the entire family that has done a supportive thing for you.
