How do you deal with uncertainty?
My story has been written by God! My life is in His hands! There is no surprising God!!! Right quick! In the Bible, God reverses a fatal death sentence for king Hezekiah.
Recorded in 2 Kings 20 and Isaiah 38, the prophet Isaiah tells the critically ill king to set his house in order because he will die. Instead, Hezekiah weeps, prays, and begs God for mercy, and God answers by adding fifteen years to his life.
Key Details of the Miracle
- The Healing: Isaiah returns with a revised message from God before leaving the middle courtyard, instructing that a fig poultice be applied to the king’s boil, leading to his recovery.
- The Sign of the Shadow: To prove the promise, Hezekiah asks for a sign, and God makes the shadow on the sundial of Ahaz go backward ten steps, effectively turning time back.
- The Later Consequence: During his extra fifteen years, Hezekiah later exhibits pride by showing Babylonian envoys all his palace treasures, prompting Isaiah to prophesy that those same treasures would eventually be carried off to Babylon.
The Bible teaches that you deal with uncertainty by shifting your focus from your own need for control to active trust in God’s character.
Instead of panicking over the unknown, Scripture encourages believers to anchor their minds in prayer, rest in God’s daily provision, and rely on His unchanging nature when the future feels unclear.
Biblical Principles for Uncertainty
- Trust God’s wisdom over your own: Proverbs 3:5–6 tells you to trust the Lord with all your heart and not lean on your own limited understanding.
- Pray instead of worrying: Philippians 4:6–7 instructs you to present your requests to God with thanksgiving so that His peace can guard your heart. [1]
- Cast your burdens on Him: Psalm 55:22 encourages you to throw your heavy load onto the Lord because He will sustain you.
- Remember daily grace: Matthew 6:34 reminds you not to be anxious about tomorrow, as each day has enough trouble of its own and God provides for the present moment.
- Rest in His presence: Isaiah 41:10 reassures you that you do not need to fear or be discouraged because God is with you and will strengthen you.
In my case, I was in a motor vehicle accident that should have been fatal. Yes! I was in a coma, non drug induced. In my coma, I remember over a decade ago saying (not aware that I was in essence – dead. That if I woke up (thinking that it was a dream!) That I would share my experience with the staff in the operating theater when I woke up (thinking it was just a ‘drewm’ not an actual experience.) Since then, I have attempted to share the Word daily.
I have committed my each and every moment into God’s divine hands.
Let’s pray:
Father LORD, You know ALL things. There are individuals that are ‘troubled’ by their current situation. You know ALL things. In the little way You have blessed me to share, we approach You in the Name of Jesus; asking for Your Word on the life of someone You directed to this post. In Jesus’ MIGHTY Name we come against every negative influence blocking or attempting to withhold the blessings meant for them.
Now, let us pray for you…
Heavenly Father, thank You for this moment/time/season of trials. In faith we approach Your Throne prostate and asking first to be washed with and in the blood of Jesus, shed for us. Lift us up LORD. In our lives, Your will be done, Amen.
Please, remain blessed and find a group of believers to fellowship with.
