Nothing remained! Yet ONE Man felt it in his heart to rebuild with permission!

We will follow up on this once I have prayed and I am led to share. A key story of being led by the Spirit. Note: first Nehemiah prayed and fasted!

Prayer and fasting serve as spiritual keys that humble the flesh, quiet daily distractions, and align your heart to better understand God.

Key Purposes of Prayer and Fasting

  • Humble the flesh: Abstaining from food or physical comforts subdues worldly impulses and strengthens your spiritual awareness.
  • Remove distractions: Quieting the physical appetite turns down the “noise” of daily life, making it easier to hear God’s voice.
  • Increase sensitivity: Spiritual clarity and discernment grow as you replace physical nourishment with focused time in God’s presence.
  • Position for breakthrough: Scripture links combined prayer and fasting to breaking strongholds, overcoming obstacles, and deepening intimacy with the Creator.

Practical Steps to Begin

  • Prepare your heart: Confess known shortcomings and approach your time of fasting with an honest, expectant attitude.
  • Set aside dedicated time: Use the hours you would normally spend eating to read the Bible, worship, and pray.
  • Keep a journal: Write down scriptures, impressions, or insights that come to mind during your quiet time.
  • Focus on motives: Keep your goal centered on glorifying God rather than seeking an emotional experience.
