I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you —
The LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm—
He will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121
In our ‘home,’ there is no sleep, we have a purpose and we shall perform it for The LORD who made us. We are here but to hone our skills. As led, we can proclaim the ways of God and His Love.
He is in a realm where there is no sleep nor slumber. In the words of David, he was led to proclaim the characteristics of God. Who was he? This Psalmist? How did he rise to fame? It was through trials and tribulations. We ALL grow with experience. Where is your heart? Where does your spirit lie?
Yes, king David who was blessed to have The Son of God born in the flesh of His lineage, had trials and temptations that in NO way were ‘small.’ He had a bounty placed on his head! He was wanted dead or alive, a price was placed on his head! Even his most loved friend, essentially a brother was banned from his presence by his father-in-law, the king!
The reason I share this is that we have trials and tribulations! We cannot see where they lead, but trust God, they are for a reason! Difficult to see when we are undergoing tribulation, but in all cases in His-story there is a reason!

Think of this, while being ‘hunted,’ he was tried, and passed the test!
Bible > NIV > 1 Samuel 26
The Ziphites went to Saul at Gibeah and said, “Is not David hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon?”
So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph, with his three thousand select Israelite troops, to search there for David. Saul made his camp beside the road on the hill of Hakilah facing Jeshimon, but David stayed in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul had followed him there, he sent out scouts and learned that Saul had definitely arrived.
Then David set out and went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw where Saul and Abner, son of Ner, the commander of the army, had lain down. Saul was lying inside the camp, with the army encamped around him.
David then asked Ahimelek the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, “Who will go down into the camp with me to Saul?”
“I’ll go with you,” said Abishai.
So David and Abishai went to the army by night, and there was Saul, lying asleep inside the camp with his spear stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying around him.
Abishai said to David, “Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won’t strike him twice.”
But David said to Abishai, “Don’t destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed and be guiltless? As surely as the LORD lives,” he said, “the LORD himself will strike him, or his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish. But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let’s go.”
So David took the spear and water jug near Saul’s head, and they left. No one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up. They were all sleeping, because the LORD had put them into a deep sleep.
1 Samuel 26:1-12
Admittedly, we are ALL in trials of one sort or another, but all to The Glory of God! Who in his place or undergoing his trials, would not have given up. There is SO much in this testimony, it is in His-story for a reason! We remember David for a few things, but forget his ‘formative’ years. God knew his heart/his spirit and led him! At times, we may ‘feel’ we are at ‘the end’ of a dangling rope. Why? Have you thought of why? Why are you going through so much? What is the cause? What is the solution? We may deal with physical, financial, emotional…maladies. Check it out, Davis suffered through all of these and more. He was not around to see into the future to know that The Son of God would come from his physical lineage! Mind you, this was an adulterer, murderer, shameless individual-but time and time again, he returned to The feet of our Father!
I will encourage you to read the story of David! So much to learn, in fact and truth it reads like a best seller novel, an award winning movie. It has reference and relevance to our lives, Amen. So, if we have not stimulated a thirst for His Word, this may just break that which stems the flow, Amen
Father LORD, we give you thanks for today. We praise You for the essence of Your Word. We go through so much: trials, tribulations, temptations and have so many wants and needs. At times we do not know how to pray or state that which we go through. We praise You for Your Spirit Who intercedes for us with sighs and groans that we cannot express in words. Father, where I stepped wrong, I truly am sorry as you bring it to remembrance in this moment, Father I seek Your pardon. Father, allow me to find it in my heart to let the past stay in the past, forgotten, forgives as I ask You to do for me.
I give You praise and Glory for the morrow, ALL I have is in and of You. We all ‘journey’ to arrive Home, guide our steps. Bless us in ways that are too wonderous to exclaim, fill us till we spill over and bless with Your Spirit those around us. Father, not my will but Your will be done in my life for always I pray in Jesus’ name, the name above ALL names, Amen
